Software Engineer (Game Studio)

Build a new game studio with Green Island. Work closely with management to create polished games, develop promotional features, and use AI to bring new games to players faster.

About the role

Help shape the games we build and the way we build them. You’ll work directly with management to turn ideas into playable prototypes, make product and technical decisions, and take games and their accompanying promotional features through to production.

Our frontend stack is TypeScript, React, React Native, and PixiJS. On the backend, we use Java with Spring Boot and C# with .NET. You’ll connect responsive, visually polished player experiences with the services behind them.

A central challenge is using AI to scale game development. Build reusable foundations and AI-assisted workflows that shorten the path from an idea to a released game. Success means shipping new games quickly while keeping the interactions polished, the software reliable, and the product worth playing.

What you’ll do

Work closely with management to shape the studio’s priorities, challenge assumptions, and turn product ideas into clear, achievable plans.
Prototype and build games with TypeScript and PixiJS, paying attention to animation, responsiveness, performance, and how each interaction feels.
Develop React and React Native interfaces, promotional features, and the backend services that connect them using Java, Spring Boot, and .NET.
Design and build the APIs, integrations, and infrastructure that let other casinos integrate and offer our games, with clear documentation and reliable operation.
Create reusable game components and development tools so each release makes the next game faster to build.
Build simulations and automated checks to compare game behaviour with its mathematical model, including expected return to player (RTP) and volatility.
Experiment with AI for prototyping, implementation, testing, and iteration. Keep what improves delivery and verify the quality of the output.
Own features from the first product discussion through testing, release, and improvement in production.
Make trade-offs visible, explain technical decisions clearly, and raise questions early when a detail could change the player experience.
Review the complete experience, from loading and error states to visual consistency, and fix the small details that make a game feel finished.

Who you are

Ideally 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with examples of products or features you have shipped and improved.
Strong programming fundamentals and experience building interactive applications with TypeScript and React or React Native.
Experience building backend services in Java, C#, or a comparable language, and the ability to reason about APIs, data, testing, and reliability.
An eye for product and detail: you notice awkward interactions, ask what the player needs, and care about the finished experience.
Clear written and spoken English, and the ability to discuss priorities and explain technical trade-offs with management and engineering colleagues.
The initiative to work through ambiguity, propose a direction, and follow through on the outcome.
Curiosity about using AI in everyday engineering, with the judgment to review, test, and take responsibility for what you ship.

Nice to have

Experience developing casino slot games or working in a game studio.
Knowledge of mathematics, probability theory, statistics, and numerical methods, especially for modelling theoretical return to player (RTP), game volatility, and validating game behaviour through simulations.
Experience with PixiJS, browser games, animation, or other interactive graphics work.
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, .NET, or both.
Experience with AI-driven development workflows for building, testing, and improving software.
Experience building promotional features or reusable systems shared across multiple games or products.
