Head of Infrastructure
About Green Island
Green Island operates digital gaming and entertainment platforms in a regulated, high-availability environment. Our platforms support multiple brands, markets, integrations, and operational teams, with a strong focus on reliability, security, compliance, and fast delivery.
About the role
We are looking for a Head of Infrastructure to lead the teams and systems responsible for keeping our cloud platforms, deployment processes, production environments, and operational tooling reliable, secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
As Head of Infrastructure, you will own the infrastructure strategy and day-to-day operational maturity of our cloud and platform environments.
This is a leadership role, but not a purely managerial one. You should be able to set direction, manage priorities, communicate with stakeholders, and develop people — while still being comfortable discussing architecture, cloud design, deployment pipelines, observability, incident response, security, and operational trade-offs in detail.
You will work closely with software engineering, product, compliance, security, BI/data, support, and business operations to ensure our platforms can evolve safely while meeting strict uptime, audit, and regulatory expectations.
What you’ll do
- Lead the infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and platform operations function.
- Own infrastructure strategy across cloud environments, networking, deployment automation, observability, security, and production operations.
- Ensure our platforms are reliable, scalable, secure, cost-conscious, and suitable for regulated online gaming operations.
- Improve standards for Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, release management, environment management, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Drive operational excellence across production and non-production environments.
- Support multi-brand and multi-market platform needs without creating unnecessary complexity.
- Work with engineering teams to improve service ownership, deployment safety, runtime visibility, and production readiness.
- Own disaster recovery, backup strategy, resilience planning, and operational continuity.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, change management, and security requirements.
- Manage infrastructure priorities, vendors, tooling, budgets, and cloud costs.
- Mentor engineers and promote a culture of automation, accountability, documentation, and pragmatic problem-solving.
- Participate in major incident reviews and ensure follow-up actions result in measurable improvements.
Who you are
- Proven experience leading infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, cloud, or platform engineering teams.
- Strong background operating high-availability production systems.
- Hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS or a similar major cloud provider.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform or similar tooling.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, deployment automation, release management, and environment promotion workflows.
- Good understanding of cloud networking, IAM, secrets management, backups, monitoring, alerting, and disaster recovery.
- Experience managing infrastructure in a regulated, audited, or security-sensitive environment.
- Ability to balance engineering speed, operational safety, compliance, and cost.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Comfortable moving between strategic planning, team leadership, and technical problem-solving.
Nice to have
- Experience in online gaming, fintech, payments, SaaS, or another regulated digital industry.
- Experience with multi-brand, multi-tenant, or multi-market platform operations.
- Experience with containerized workloads and modern deployment patterns.
- Experience with deployment and release tooling such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.
- Experience with observability platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, or similar.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and infrastructure governance.
- Familiarity with gaming platform integrations, payment systems, sportsbook/casino operations, or real-time transactional systems.
- Cloud, security, or ITIL-related certifications are a plus, but not required.
What you get
- A senior leadership role with real ownership of infrastructure direction and operational maturity.
- The opportunity to improve and scale platforms used in a demanding, high-availability business.
- A pragmatic engineering culture focused on reliability, automation, security, and delivery.
- Close collaboration with experienced product, engineering, operations, and business teams.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
- Flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
